Karlstejn is one of the most visited Czech castles. It was built by emperor Charles IV. between 1348 - 1355. Karlstejn served as a depository of royal and empire jewels and coronation jewels and also as an archive of state documents. This gothic castle with enchanting monumental architecture is located about 38 km south of Prague. After climbing a hill you will do an hour sight-seeing of Karlstejn castle interiors. Our guide will introduce you to both the history of this castle and life of Charles IV., his time and culture. Including entrance fee for one sight-seeing circle

Comment: This was an enjoyable trip though we should not have learned only a few minutes before arrival that the bus had to stop at the bottom of a 1.5km hill and it would cost 150CzK to go up in the horse carriage. There was a mixed party leading to commentary in Italian, French and English. However, it was a bit annoying that the initial commentary in Italian lasted from the beginning of the trip until we had travelled round much of Prague and then at least ten minutes out of the city. The commentaries in English and French were much shorter. The castle visit itself was very interesting and some of the views excellent. The description inside was generally informative, which was appreciated.

Comment: Nuestra guía en español tenía conocimientos muy límitados del idioma, de hecho, no entendió una pregunta que la hice sobre el Castillo. También los turistas italianos que viajaban con nosotros se quejaron durante el viaje en autobús de su guía, decían que no entendían su italiano. A la entrada al Castillo, la guía italiana fue sustituída por otro guía que se encontraba allí, y accedió a dar el servicio en lengua italiana.

Comment: Very nice castle, we liked a tour a lot! Also not too far from Prague.
